Peskov: Moscow has drawn red lines
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says the decision to hold negotiations indicates that Russian and US presidents do not intend to push matters into a dead end.
The Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the virtual meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden scheduled on Tuesday is limited to discussing business and there is no reason to expect a breach.
Peskov pointed out that the mere act of holding negotiations indicates that the Russian and American presidents do not intend to push matters to a dead end.
"We're looking for good, predictable relations with the United States. Russia never intended to attack anyone, but we have our concerns and we have our red lines," said the Spokesperson.
In an interview, Peskov disclosed that Putin has repeatedly emphasized Russia's wish to establish predictable relations with the US.
Peskov noted that dialogue with the US would be beneficial in all cases, which is the way the Russian President views the world.
President Putin and President Joe Biden will hold a video meeting today. The talks come in light of the rising tensions over Ukraine, but the counterparts will address a wide array of issues.
