PFLP senior member assassinated, "Zakim" military site shelled after
The Popular Front mourns the loss of its comrade Abu Samoud, extending its condolences to his family, comrades, and the Palestinian people.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) announced the martyrdom of Awad "Abu Samoud" Al-Sultan, a senior member of the Palestinian resistance faction.
The PFLP declared in an official statement that Al-Sultan, along with his son and other family members, lost their lives in an Israeli airstrike on their home in Jabaliya camp, located in the northern part of Gaza.
Subsequently, it was reported that the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades retaliated by launching a barrage of rockets targeting the Zakim military base.

The PFLP conveyed its condolences to the Palestinian people in the statement, on behalf of its Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General, Political Office, and Central Committee.

Who is Awad Al-Sultan?
Awad Al-Sultan, also known as "Abu Samoud," held a prominent position within the General Central Committee and played a pivotal role as the head of the Martyrs, Prisoners, and Wounded Office.
In 2001, he became a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and steadily rose through its ranks. Later on, he was recruited as a combatant in the Martyr Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. He conducted notable resistance operations, particularly at sea.

On February 14, 2010, he was apprehended while on a boat in the northern Gaza Sea during a combat mission and was subsequently freed on February 13, 2018. Remarkably, he obtained a BA in History from Al-Aqsa University while incarcerated.
He was elected as a member of the General Central Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine during the PFLP's eighth national conference in May 2022.

He was responsible for the Martyrs, Prisoners, and Wounded Office until his martyrdom.
He was also one of the most prominent advocates for the prisoners' cause, actively participating in events and activities related to prisoners. He enjoyed national and popular support and unanimous respect from various Palestinian factions, committees, and prisoner institutions.
