The Military Media of the al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, published the final message by the captured Israeli soldier, Rom Barslavski, to the leaders and soldiers of the occupation forces before contact was lost with the unit in charge of him.
The al-Quds Brigades announced on July 22 that it had lost contact with the unit that was in charge of watching Barslavski, following an intense wave of airstrikes and ground incursion into an area believed to house Israeli captives.
The footage, released by the al-Quds Brigades on Thursday, showed the 22-year-old captive with a gaunt, emaciated body due to starvation, a result of the Israeli occupation blocking food from entering the Gaza Strip for months.
In his message, Barslavski pleaded with the Israeli occupation to secure his release, end the war, and allow food into Gaza, "before I starve to death," stressing that he was "on the brink of death," surviving on barely anything to eat each day.
The captive highlighted the worsening circumstances in his captivity, stating that after two years of suffering, the food that his PIJ captors provided him with went from scarce to completely unavailable after "Israel" launched Operation "Gideon's Chariots."
The captured soldier blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his deteriorating health and potential death, declaring, "I'm in agony and will suffer lasting physical and psychological damage."
"There will be no recovery from this," Barslavski asserted.
He emphasized that he could no longer endure living under these conditions, expressing deep fear that he might never leave Gaza alive, adding that he had witnessed children starving to death, horrors he had never seen Israeli children suffer in the same way.
