Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that determining the cause of the explosion would take time, noting that initial assessments suggest containers stored in a corner of the port, likely containing chemical materials, were the source of the blast.
She emphasized that it would be difficult to issue an accurate statement regarding the cause and details of the incident until the fire is completely extinguished, a process expected to require additional time.
On his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that he had ordered an immediate investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident.
