Pro-Palestine Peace March in Greece against NATO, US, EU
Many other anti-imperialist events are predicted to happen all over Greece today, a RIA Novosti correspondent said.
Within the framework of the National Anti-Imperialist Action Day protesting Greece's involvement in US, NATO, and EU military plans and in support of Gaza amid the ongoing Israeli war against it, Greece is witnessing the 41st Marathon Peace March today.
The current march began in Attic Peninsula at 8 a.m. local time [05:00 GMT], and was expected to include hundreds of people, a number which may have increased. Many other events are also predicted to happen all over Greece today.
"No participation in the NATO-US-EU plans," "Close the death bases in Greece" and "We stand for solidarity with the Palestinian people," are slogans being raised in the march.
In a statement, the organizers announced, "We are sending a signal to fight against the war and Greece’s involvement in it."
The first Marathon Peace March in the country took place in 1963, despite a ban by Greek authorities at the time.
Pro-Palestine protests flood Europe, US
Similarly, the streets of Berlin, Dublin, and Geneva were flooded today with thousands of pro-Palestine protesters urging for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, calling on their government to stop support for the Israeli occupation.
The protesters condemned the Israeli genocide against Gaza and called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, further intensifying the global call for peace in the region.
Protesters chanted "Germany is funding, Israel is bombing", "Shame on you," and "Stop arming Israel" in Berlin, as nearly 2,000 people marched toward the federal parliament (Budenstag) after gathering at Potsdamer Platz.
Thousands of protesters ended up in front of the UN Office in Geneva after starting their march from Place de Neuve Square maneuvering through the city center for several hours in a show of solidarity for Palestine.
Dublin witnessed a significant turnout at the Garden of Remembrance Park as the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign organized the protest.
After New York Police arrested more than 100 pro-Palestine activists rallying on the campus at New York's Columbia University, many other university students declared solidarity with the demonstrators at the university.
