Pro-Palestinian protests take place in 52 Moroccan cities
Thousands of Moroccans took to the streets all over the country to protest in support of Gaza in light of the ongoing genocide.
Demonstrations and marches in support of Gaza took place in dozens of Moroccan cities, where protesters demanded an end to the Israeli occupation's siege, war of starvation, and war of attrition that has killed tens of thousands of people in Gaza over the past six months.
During the solidarity march called for by a number of local NGOs, including the Moroccan Committee for the Support of the Nation's Issues (NOSRA), the participants condemned the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza, which they said "violated all human rights and international standards."
According to a statement by NOSRA, the protesters demanded that the Moroccan government stop normalization with "Israel" completely, denouncing the international silence and complicity and the Arab and Islamic inaction in supporting Palestine.
"Israel's violations of all humanitarian laws with Western support" is unacceptable, the NOSRA statement said, demanding the protection of the people of Gaza and the prevention of "Israel" from displacing them from the Strip. They stressed that the Rabat march was a continuation of the activities in support of Gaza, and a commemoration of the Palestinian Land Day.
The statement added that the participants in the marches raised Palestinian flags and chanted slogans in solidarity with Gaza, such as "The people want to liberate Palestine", "Normalization is treason", and "Despite the bombing and siege.. Gaza is free and will not collapse".
They demanded immediate and urgent intervention to stop the war, open the land crossings, and lift the siege on the Palestinians.
People and organizations all over Morocco are making calls to continue organizing new protests in various regions to voice their support for Palestine, the Resistance, and Gaza. The people of Morocco have been protesting in support of Gaza since October 7, 2023, when Operation al-Aqsa Flood took place and in light of the subsequent Israeli war.
100 pro-Palestine demonstrations were organized in 52 Moroccan cities, NOSRA said. "Gaza is reflecting an honorable image of the liberation struggle."
The statement also indicated that the demonstrations covered dozens of cities and regions in Morocco, most notably in Tangier, Sidi Yahya, Kenitra, el-Jadida, Tetouan, Beni Mellal, Chefchaouen, Azrou, Casablanca, and Agadir.
Land day
Saturday marks Land Day, a Palestinian commemoration of when "Israel" occupied large areas of Palestinian territories in 1976.
Palestinians in occupied Palestine and the diaspora commemorate Land Day, which falls on March 30th of each year, by launching numerous events and demonstrations in support of Palestine and the Palestinian cause.
This year's anniversary comes amid the escalation of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7 and the escalations of offensives and settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
It is worth mentioning that tens of thousands of Moroccans demonstrated in February on the main streets of the capital Rabat to express their dismay with the Israeli genocide against the people of the Gaza Strip. They demanded an end to the normalization of relations between Morocco and "Israel".
The demonstrators held up banners in front of the parliament building in the capital with the words "Stop the massacre", "Normalization is treason", and "No embassy, no ambassador". They also set fire to the Israeli flag.
