Russian President Vladimir Putin has officially invited the heads of state and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) to participate in the first Russian-Arab Summit, scheduled to take place on October 15.
In a telegram addressed to the Arab League, Putin stated, "We intend to develop constructive dialogue with the LAS in the future, as well as friendly relations with its members."
"In this regard, I would like to invite all state leaders of your union, as well as the League's Secretary General, to take part in the 1st Russian-Arab Summit, which we are planning to hold on October 15," he said.
Strengthening Russia-Arab League cooperation
The Russian leader expressed hope that the upcoming summit will strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and support efforts to ensure peace, security, and stability in West Asia and North Africa.
Russia backs multilateral diplomacy in the region
Putin reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to supporting the collective political and diplomatic efforts of Arab countries, both within the framework of the LAS and other regional formats.
He noted that the Arab League’s 34th Summit, which began Saturday, is taking place at a particularly difficult time given the ongoing escalation between "Israel" and Palestine.
The president underlined the growing importance of the Arab League as a multilateral dialogue platform in such critical times, stating that Russia views this mechanism as essential for resolving regional tensions and promoting diplomatic solutions.
The announcement came following a four-day trip by US President Donald Trump through the Gulf region this week, during which Washington confirmed it had secured several deals, including a $600 billion commitment by Saudi Arabia to invest in the US, $142 billion in arms sales to the kingdom, and an AI partnership with the UAE.
