Qomati addresses detainees, reconstruction, Palestine support issues
The Deputy Head of Hezbollah’s Political Council, Mahmoud Qomati, announces ongoing efforts to address the issues of detainees and reconstruction.
The Deputy Head of Hezbollah’s Political Council, Mahmoud Qomati, on Wednesday, declared that victory had been achieved after two months of continuous struggle, steadfastness, and determination, while the enemy failed to accomplish any of its objectives.
In a press conference held in Beirut’s Southern Suburb, he emphasized that the Resistance’s resilience in southern Lebanon thwarted the enemy's plans and disrupted its broader aggression against the Middle East, describing the outcome as a victory for Arab national security.
Addressing the Lebanese public, Qomati said, "When the enemy fails to achieve its goals and reaches a military deadlock, that is victory."
He attributed the triumph first to the Resistance, second to the official political stance, and third to the unwavering support of the Resistance's community. He also highlighted the strong negotiations led by the Lebanese delegation, headed by Speaker Nabih Berri, as a significant factor in the achievement.
Qomati extended gratitude to the Resistance’s support base, describing them as patient, loyal, and self-sacrificing in their unwavering commitment. "We are steadfast in our loyalty to this community," he affirmed.
He announced preparations for the funerals of martyrs Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, stating that these ceremonies would serve as a public and political declaration of allegiance to the Resistance's path.
The Deputy Head of Hezbollah's Political Council also confirmed the ongoing follow-up on the issue of detainees held by the Israeli occupation forces during the war, as well as the matter of reconstruction of areas affected by the war.
Regarding Gaza and the ongoing genocide, Qomati conveyed messages of gratitude from Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad to the Resistance and its leaders. He reaffirmed, "We will not abandon Palestine, which remains our central cause," adding that the details of continued support for the Palestinian Resistance would be determined at an appropriate time.
The ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and "Israel" took effect at 4 a.m. Since then, displaced residents from southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s Southern Suburb have been returning to their towns and villages, celebrating their resilience and sense of victory.
Defying IOF warnings, Lebanese continue heading home, arrive at towns
Al Mayadeen’s cameras documented the historic return of forcibly displaced residents from South Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and the Southern Suburb of Beirut, as they made their way back to their homes and villages. This significant movement began Wednesday morning, following the implementation of the ceasefire.
The scenes depicted a powerful image of resilience and recovery, as families returned to areas that had long been under Israeli aggression.
The footage highlighted both the emotional and symbolic significance of the return, as Lebanese people hailed the Resistance and celebrated victory, while also mourning their martyred leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
In interviews for Al Mayadeen's correspondents, returning Lebanese citizens expressed pride in their resilience, declaring, "We triumphed through our determination, steadfastness, and Resistance."
They highlighted that while settlers have not returned to the northern settlements, the people of the South, Bekaa, and Southern Suburb are now making their way back. "The enemy bet on schism and civil war, but it has failed," they added, referring to the unity exhibited by most of the Lebanese people from all sects and factions by embracing the displaced.
