Raisi shattered barrier of isolation, sanctions: IRGC chief
As Iranians prepare for the snap presidential election, the IRGC chief recalled the late President's accomplishments during his tenure.
The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, praised the significant achievements of late President Ebrahim Raisi, asserting that Raisi had effectively shattered the West’s policy of isolating and sanctioning Iran.
Salami's remarks come on Wednesday, as Iranians prepared for the snap presidential election following Raisi’s tragic death in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran on May 19.
He highlighted that upon assuming office, Raisi faced "maximum pressure" from Iran's adversaries, yet he successfully restored the dignity of the Iranian nation and propelled the country forward while steadfastly opposing its enemies.
Salami further highlighted that Raisi successfully pursued a de-escalation policy in relations with Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan, noting that Raisi also signed 222 cooperation documents with various countries and expanded Iran's regional influence.
Additionally, he emphasized that the late president accomplished what typically would take ten years in just three, underscoring that Iran's economic activity, including imports, exports, and peak oil sales, demonstrates how the country challenged the sanctions.
Salami further emphasized that the upcoming presidential elections should demonstrate the Iranian nation's triumph over its enemies.
That said, Iranians will cast their votes on Friday to elect a new president to succeed Raisi.
