Renewed demonstrations in vicinity of Green Zone, Iraq
Three days after they stormed Parliament in the Green Zone, Sadrist supporters are heading from Rusafa in Tahrir Square to the main Green Zone as demonstrations continue.
Three days after they stormed Parliament, hundreds of Sadrist demonstrated on Saturday in central Baghdad, at the Geen Zone gate, as the political crisis deepens and the country's situation becomes more critical.
Most of the demonstrators raised the Iraqi flag, while others carried pictures of Muqtada Al-Sadr, chanted slogans in his support, and gathered on a bridge leading to the Green Zone, which includes government institutions as well as foreign embassies. The Green Zone is a region in central Baghdad that is fortified with concrete barriers.
The demonstrators climbed the concrete barriers that prevented them from crossing the bridge, and chanted the phrase "All the people are with you, Sayyid Muqtada."
The demonstrators also renewed their rejection of the proposed PM Mohammad Shiya Al-Sudani, who was nominated for this position by the Coordination Framework.

On Wednesday, thousands of Sadrist supporters stormed the parliament inside the Green Zone, denouncing the candidacy of the 52-year-old former minister and governor.
A few days ago, the Secretariat of the Coordination Framework in Iraq announced the nomination of Mohammad Al-Shiya Al-Sudani to take over the prime ministership.
The leaders of the framework stressed that "the candidate will not be affiliated with a certain party, but rather is the candidate of all the framework forces."
It is noteworthy that the Sadrist movement's bloc in the Iraqi parliament submitted its resignation on June 12, in a move that Muqtada Al-Sadr considered "a sacrifice for the sake of the country and the people to rid them of an unknown fate."
Last May, Al-Sadr announced that his parliamentary bloc had not succeeded in forming a national majority government, declaring the bloc's transformation into "the opposition seats and giving way to other parliamentary blocs to form a government."
