According to local media, the rockets were aimed at the US Embassy in Baghdad. The first rocket landed near the Grand Festivities Square near the Green Zone, causing damage to two civilian vehicles, while the second was intercepted in the air.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries or deaths and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The US Embassy is located in the Green Zone; a heavily fortified area in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which also houses government buildings and foreign diplomatic missions. However, that zone, mainly the US Embassy, is targeted by Katyusha rocket attacks, every now and then.
