Russia, China, and Pakistan submitted a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council on Sunday calling for an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire” in the Middle East, in light of US military escalation against Iran and the attacks on its nuclear facilities.
According to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent in New York, the tripartite draft also calls for “protection of civilians, respect for international law, and engagement in dialogue and negotiations.”
'Today’s events a stain on UN history'
Meanwhile, Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, stressed that “what happened today is a stain on the history of the United Nations,” expressing appreciation for the members “who chose to stand on the right side of history and condemned the US aggression.”
During the emergency session held by the Security Council on Sunday, Iravani said, “After Israel failed to carry out the West’s dirty work, Trump had to implement the disgraceful agenda himself,” adding that “America has once again recklessly chosen to sacrifice its security just to protect Netanyahu.”
He affirmed that Iran’s armed forces will determine the timing, nature, and scale of an appropriate response.

Guterres: US bombing a dangerous turning point
UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized that “the US bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities marks a dangerous turning point in a region already plagued by crises,” warning of “another spiral of destruction” and retaliatory actions following the US strikes on Iran.
“Fighting must stop, and a return to serious and sustained talks over Iran’s nuclear program is needed,” Guterres added, reaffirming the UN’s readiness to support all possible efforts toward a peaceful resolution.
US attacks violate UN charter: China
Similarly, China’s envoy to the UN, Fu Cong, strongly condemned the US attacks on Iranian territory, describing them as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law, and warning against the escalation that threatens regional peace and stability.
Fu stressed that parties to the war, particularly "Israel," must agree to an immediate ceasefire. He affirmed that diplomatic avenues to resolve the Iranian nuclear crisis remain viable and urged Council members to approve the resolution and re-engage in dialogue.
US, 'Israel' strike Iranian nuclear facilities
This comes after Donald Trump announced that the United States carried out what he described as a "very successful attack" on three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Trump stated that a "full payload of bombs" was dropped on Fordow, the primary target, and confirmed that all US aircraft involved in the operation have exited Iranian airspace and are "safely on their way home."
He hailed the attack that targeted three Iranian nuclear sites as a “spectacular military success,” speaking from the White House Cross Hall.
“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump declared.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Saturday night that the United States’ military strike on the Iranian nuclear sites was carried out in full coordination with "Israel," calling the operation a necessary response to what he described as an existential threat.
