Russia captures village of Semenivka in eastern Ukraine: MoD
As Russian forces advance further into Ukraine, the Defense Ministry reported the capturing of more territories, mainly the village of Semenivka.
Russia has captured the village of Semenivka, located near Avdiivka, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday.
Semenivka is located to the south of Novobakhmutivka near Ocheretyne, which was penetrated last week and where fighting intensified, leading up to yet another territorial gain for Russia.
This comes after Russian forces took control of the village of Novobakhmutivka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) on Sunday, eliminating up to 380 Ukrainian servicepeople and one tank in the area.
Russian troops have been advancing further toward eastern Ukraine and western Donetsk since its win in Avdiivka and amid the worsening state of the Ukrainian frontlines.
On Sunday, strikes launched by Russian forces at hotels in Mykolaiv (Nikolaev), known for housing foreign fighters hired by Ukraine, left 14 mercenaries dead and another eight injured, Sputnik reported citing a source on the ground.
According to Sergei Lebedev, "The eight injured were hospitalized … They are being accommodated separately from others. Two are in a serious condition and six have been stabilized."
Lebedev pointed out that the Riviera and Helen hotels, housing English-speaking foreigners, are being guarded by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Russian forces have also been reporting American and Canadian citizens arriving in the Black Sea coast city, Sputnik noted.
The source revealed that foreign instructors had been training Ukrainian marines at a local shipyard to conduct naval sabotage operations.
About a hundred Ukrainian paramilitary fighters from the Azov battalion have recently arrived at the shipyard, which is also used to assemble underwater drones, he highlighted.
