On Sunday, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli brutal airstrikes on Damascus describing it as a flagrant violation of international law.

"We strongly condemn the use of brute force by Israel, which is a gross violation of international laws. We urge Israel to stop armed provocations against Syria and refrain from action that may have dangerous implications for the entire region," the ministry said.

The ministry added that the strikes on a residential area happened while Russia and other nations were deploying rescue teams, medical personnel, and humanitarian aid to Syria in the wake of the deadly earthquakes that shook the country early last week.
