Russia denies reports on RAF using S-300 against Israeli occupation
Reports about the Russian armed forces shooting toward an Israeli occupation aircraft while it was committing aggression in Syria have been dismissed by Moscow as false.
Moscow denied Thursday reports that the Russian Armed Forces using S-300 air defense systems against the aircraft of the Israeli occupation Air Force, which was launching aggression against Syria.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov dismissed the reports as nothing but misinformation, stressing that he needed to check with the military.
"I think [it is] not [true], of course. But it is necessary, of course, to clarify with our military colleagues. I think this is completely fake news," Bogdanov told reporters.
Earlier this week, media reported that Russian forces had fired S-300 anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli occupation aircraft at the end of an attack on several targets in northwestern Syria, namely the Masyaf area. The incidents took place last week.
The Russian ministry of defense had revealed Saturday that Israeli F-16s fired 22 missiles toward a Syrian scientific research center in Masyaf and the Baniyas port, which were intercepted. The air defense systems downed 16 missiles out of the 22.
Israeli media reported a few days later that for the first time since the Israeli occupation started conducting offensives in Syria, an S-300 air defense system launched a SAM toward an aircraft of the Israeli occupation air force.
Russian Reconciliation Center for Syria deputy chief Oleg Zhuravlyov announced that six Israeli F-16s attacked on May 13 between 20:25 and 20:32 sites for the Syrian scientific research center in Masyaf and Baniyas without entering Syrian airspace.
The Israeli aggression, the Russian official said, killed three Syrian soldiers and two civilians, with two Syrian soldiers sustaining injuries. The attack also caused material damage to equipment in the research center.
