Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed grave concerns on Wednesday regarding the recurring threats to launch new attacks against Iran, emphasizing that the dangers posed by such strikes, especially those targeting nuclear facilities, should not be overlooked.
"Regular threats to Iran of new missile and bomb strikes against its nuclear facilities cause serious concern. The cynicism of such statements is heightened by the fact that they are made under the guise of supposed concern for nuclear nonproliferation … Bombing nuclear sites must not become a routine practice in international affairs. The catastrophic risks cannot be ignored or justified," Zakharova said during a press briefing.
The spokesperson stated that Russia denounces all appeals for attacks targeting Iranian nuclear program facilities.
"The Russian side strongly condemns any calls for military strikes, in order to eliminate misunderstandings and contradictions regarding the peaceful nuclear program in Iran," Zakharova stated, adding that Russia maintains a firm and unwavering stance on this issue, having consistently cautioned against reckless military actions that jeopardize stability and security across the Middle East region.
Iran has never, will never bow down to aggression: Araghchi
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi delivered a stern warning, emphasizing that Iran would not accept any additional acts of aggression and vowing a forceful retaliation should there be another attack on its nuclear installations like the recent US-Israeli strike.
In a firm statement shared on X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi underscored that Iran, as a nation with a 7,000-year history, refuses to accept threats or coercion, asserting that "Iranians have never bowed down before any foreigners and respond only to respect."
Earlier on Monday, US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with another round of airstrikes on its nuclear facilities should it attempt to restart the nuclear sites Washington allegedly annihilated in July.
Speaking to reporters, Trump claimed Iran was transmitting what he called "nasty signals", vowing to swiftly eliminate any attempts to revive its nuclear program by stating, "We wiped out their nuclear possibilities. They can start again. If they do, we'll wipe it out faster than you can wave your finger at it."
