Russia interested in Iran aircraft industry experience under sanctions
Mikhail Yusov, Deputy Head of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission says Moscow is interested in understanding the Iranian experience at a deeper level amid tough foreign sanctions.
Mikhail Yusov, Deputy Head of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission said, on Wednesday, that Russia has sought to study Iran's track record of aircraft development amidst pressure resulting from foreign sanctions.
According to Yusov, "Iran's peculiarity is that it has been living under the oppression of sanctions for many years, but they have found ways to develop aircraft engineering. They are able to repair aircraft. The Iranians' experience in this regard may be useful for us."
Earlier in April, despite Western sanctions, Russian flag carrier Aeroflot, for the first time, deployed an Airbus A330-300 to Iran for landing gear maintenance. The European Union has slapped ten packages of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
Some of these had an impact on Russia's aviation sector, such as the suspension of aircraft and spare parts supplies. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the West's long-term objective is to discourage and undermine Russia, however, these sanctions have inevitably caused significant harm to the world economy.
Russia, Iran ties reaching new levels: Tehran
The Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said, on April 23, that the bilateral relations between his country and Moscow have been reaching new levels in light of both countries having a similar and sometimes unanimous approach toward regional and international issues.
"Today, relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation are reaching a new level," Jalali said during an academic event held in the Russian capital with a focus on the Persian language and Persian literature.
Tehran and Moscow "are entering the sphere of close cooperation" and "have similar approaches to [solving] regional and international problems," the diplomat revealed.
Russian media reported that the Iranian diplomat hailed the important role played by the Iranian and Russian specialists who speak both languages.
