Russia has declined to participate in US President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza truce, though it reiterated its support for peace initiatives to end the war on Gaza.
“Russia always supports and welcomes any efforts that aim to prevent the tragedy that is currently unfolding (in Gaza),” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
While expressing hope that the plan might help bring events “to a peaceful course,” Peskov stressed that Moscow is not involved in the proposal and has not received any signals from Washington regarding participation.

The Kremlin underlined that Russia maintains open channels with all parties to the conflict and is prepared to facilitate dialogue if needed. Peskov emphasized that Moscow’s approach remains focused on preventing further bloodshed in Gaza and pushing for a peaceful resolution.
On Monday, Trump unveiled the details of his Gaza truce plan during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, DC.
The 20-point proposal includes:
- The release of all Israeli captives in exchange for some Palestinian prisoners
- The disarmament of the Palestinian resistance group Hamas
- The creation of a temporary technocratic Palestinian committee to administer Gaza
- Additional provisions aimed at reducing tensions
- Vague terms about Israeli withdrawal
- Vague plan about the so-called 'deradicalisation of Gaza'
- A ruling body, headed by Tony Blair, and reminiscent of colonial administration
- Vague ruling regarding the controversial and Israeli-US-affiliated GHF
While Trump’s plan has drawn international attention, critics argue it prioritizes "Israel’s" demands while limiting Palestinian sovereignty. Russia’s refusal to take part underscores Moscow’s cautious stance, balancing its regional relationships while advocating for broader peace initiatives.
