Russia shoots down Ukrainian drone headed for Moscow
The Russian defense ministry says that the drone altered its flight trajectory and landed instead on a non-residential building in the Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment in Moscow.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed on Friday that it shot down a Ukrainian drone around 4:00 a.m. (01:00 GMT) which was an attempted attack at facilities in Moscow.
The statement said: "On August 18, around 4:00 a.m., the Kiev regime attempted to carry out yet another terrorist attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle on facilities located in Moscow and the Moscow region".
According to the ministry, the drone altered its flight trajectory and landed instead on a non-residential building in the Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment in Moscow.
It added that no casualties or fires were reported as a result.
Within the last 24-48 hours, Russia's air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed three Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over the Kaluga region and downed a Ukrainian armed drone over the Belgorod region without causing any casualties or damage.

The Ukrainian army has become overreliant on the use of long-range missiles and attack drones, as its counteroffensive is proving to be a failed mission, with Moscow being the most sensitive location attacked, while Crimea is currently the most targeted.
Last week, Russian air defense systems thwarted a Ukrainian aerial attack on Crimea composed of 20 attack drones, with 14 destroyed by missiles and six disabled by electronic jamming systems.
These attacks are occurring amidst a Ukrainian counter-offensive, which according to Russian President Vladimir Putin has failed, and which the West keeps blaming on Ukraine's slow application.
