The Russian Defense Ministry reported Sunday that Russia's Vostok (East) grouping of soldiers had gained control of the village of Velikaya Novosyolka (also known as Velyka Novosilka) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

According to a statement from the ministry, "The offensive operations by the 5th Guards Independent Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Brigade of the Vostok Group of Forces" led to the seizure of the settlement of Velikaya Novosyolka.

The ministry also reported that units from Russia's Tsentr (Center) group of forces had taken control of the settlement of Zelenoe (also known as Zelene) in the DPR.

In a related context, Russia's Black Sea navy fire units destroyed two unmanned surface vessels on their way to Crimea, as per the ministry.

"In the morning of January 26 this year, the Black Sea Fleet's on-duty firepower in the northwestern part of the Black Sea water area destroyed two unmanned surface vessels traveling in the direction of the Crimean peninsula," the statement read.

In the daily tally of Ukrainian losses, the Russian ministry reported that the Ukrainian armed forces have lost over 180 service members in the Kursk direction, as well as a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and a self-propelled artillery battalion.
