Britain must reckon with the consequences of the trouble it got itself into, the Yemeni government in Sanaa stressed on Wednesday, warning of the repercussions of its participation in the US-led aggression against Yemen.
Earlier, Britain’s Ministry of Defense announced that UK and US forces carried out a joint military operation against Yemen on Tuesday, marking their first military involvement since Donald Trump’s re-election.
The statement claimed that the strike was conducted after dark, when the likelihood of any civilians being in the area was reduced, adding that the attack took place at night about 25 kilometers (15 miles) south of the capital Sanaa.
The Sanaa government said the military attack was part of the ongoing actions by the US and the UK to support the Israeli enemy by attempting to halt Yemeni backing for Palestine, in order to enable "Israel" to isolate the Gaza Strip and continue committing massacres against the Palestinian people.
The statement affirmed that Sanaa will confront with all its strength the "trio of evil" and all those aligned with it, stressing that such challenges will not deter Yemen from its stance on the causes of the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
The UK's Ministry of Defense said the airstrikes were carried out by Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4 jets, which deployed Paveway IV precision-guided bombs on a cluster of buildings allegedly used by the Ansar Allah movement to manufacture drones of the type employed in attacks on maritime vessels.
UK Defense Secretary John Healey said that all UK aircraft and personnel involved in the mission had returned safely to base.
Healey noted that, as a result of Sanaa's actions, shipping through the Red Sea has dropped by 55%, leading to billions in losses, "fuelling regional instability and risking economic security for families in the UK.”
