Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani affirmed that the Israeli attacks on Syria and Qatar represent a blatant violation of international law, in statements made during a press conference in Damascus with his Croatian counterpart.
Al-Shaibani stated that "stability in the region cannot be achieved amid the ongoing Israeli assaults," calling on the international community to hold "Israel" accountable for these violations.
'Israel' strikes left and right
The Israeli occupation continues its aggression against Syria through persistent bombardment and the occupation of territories despite ongoing talks between Syria and the Zionist entity. Simultaneously, "Israel" launched an assault on the Qatari capital, Doha, in a failed attempt to assassinate leaders of the Hamas movement, which resulted in the negotiating delegation surviving and several others being killed.
In a coordinated operation between the Israeli occupation military and its internal security agency, Shin Bet, an airstrike was carried out on the Qatari capital of Doha on September 9, with officials claiming the operation targeted the senior leadership of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
On September 8, Israeli fighter jets launched missiles from Lebanese northern airspace and conducted air raids on the countryside of Homs, Syria, late Monday, as SANA confirmed, with no details provided regarding the nature of the targets or the extent of damage and casualties.
These strikes coincided with the expectation of a meeting this week between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, according to reports by the Israeli Broadcasting agency Kan.
These Washington-mediated talks, aimed at advancing discussions for a potential security arrangement, follow previous rounds in Paris facilitated by US envoy Tom Barrack, which reportedly focused on stabilizing southern Syria, reactivating disengagement agreements, and preventing further escalation along the occupied Golan Heights.
