Sudan casualties increase, army accuses regional actors of backing RSF
The army spokesman also revealed that mediators have proposed holding negotiations between the two warring parties in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
Brigadier General Nabil Abdallah, the spokesperson of the Sudanese army, alleged that regional stakeholders have been supporting the RSF's aspiration for authority over Khartoum. The spokesperson however didn't identify the said actor.
"We cannot name them yet but there are powers in the region that are, unfortunately, supporting them," Brigadier General Nabil Abdallah told Sputnik.

Abdallah also revealed that mediators have proposed holding negotiations between the two warring parties in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
"Saudi-American mediators have proposed Jeddah for this [negotiations], but the decision has not yet been made," Abdallah added, noting that the agenda of the negotiations will exclusively tackle humanitarian concerns and prospective ceasefires.
Furthermore, the Sudanese Ministry of Health announced that the casualties of the conflict have steadily increased since the conflict broke out in mid-April. The ministry estimated that more than 550 have been killed and approximately 5,000 have been injured.
"In all hospitals in the provinces of Sudan, a total of 550 deaths and 4926 injured were recorded," the ministry announced in a statement on social media.

In a clear act of exploiting the ongoing clashes in Sudan, the Israeli occupation rushed to mediate a ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support forces, back in late April, to ensure normalizing ties with the African country.
A report released by Truthout yesterday highlighted the historical enmity that the Sudanese people have for the Israeli occupation, which would render the political normalization agreement useless on the ground.
Sudanese parties have constantly expressed their rejection of the Sudanese government's move towards normalizing relations with "Israel".
