Sudanese military has right to request int'l assistance: Spokesperson
This comes as military spokesperson Gen Brigadier Nabil Abdallah said, “So far we are able to maintain control."
The spokesperson of the Sudanese Armed Forces Gen Brigadier Nabil Abdallah said as quoted by Sputnik that the Sudanese Armed Forces are so far in control of the situation on the ground.
However, commenting on whether the military received any offers from abroad, Abdallah did not rule out the possibility of seeking international or regional military assistance by saying that the military has the right "to interact with any international or regional party within the framework of military cooperation.”
When asked about the foreseeable challenges in controlling the borders by Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) amid ongoing clashes, he said, "We have signed protocols [on cooperation] with the countries, there are joint forces [on the borders], for example, with Chad, the CAR [the Central African Republic]. There are enough forces on the eastern borders, as well as on the borders with Egypt."
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Spokesperson also said the army is grateful for the cooperation of the international community, and hopes that the clashes will end soon.
“We expect a clear position on this situation from international and regional actors,” Abdallah concluded.
Fighting in Sudan's capital entered a second week Saturday as crackling gunfire shattered the temporary 72-hour truce, marking the latest battles between forces of rival generals -- General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan's Sudanese Armed Forces and Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo's Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which left hundreds dead and thousands wounded.
