Following the Israeli occupation airstrikes on Aleppo International Airport, the Syrian Foreign and Expatiates Ministry considered Wednesday that the Israeli repeated acts of aggression on Syrian territory amount to a war crime.

"The repeated Israeli attacks, particularly the systematic and deliberate targeting of the civilian targets in Syria, the latest of which was targeting Aleppo International Airport yesterday, amount to a crime of aggression and a war crime in accordance with the international law, and Israel must be held accountable for it," the Syrian Ministry stressed in a statement.

"The Israeli occupation is once again threatening the peace and security in the region, endangering and intimidating civilians, along with threatening the safety of civil aviation in Syria and the region," the statement indicated.

MOFA affirms that the recurring Israeli attacks, especially the systematic targeting of civilian targets in Syria, the latest of which was Aleppo International Airport, amounts to a crime of aggression and a war crime under international law. Israel must be held accountable.

According to the Syrian Foreign and Expatiates Ministry, "Syria will exercise its legitimate right to defend its land and people by all means and to ensure the Israeli occupation authorities’ accountability for their crimes."

On Tuesday evening, SANA reported that the Israeli occupation carried out an aggression that targeted Aleppo International Airport.

The Syrian news agency cited a military source as saying that "nearly at 20.16 p.m., the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression, with a number of missiles, from the direction of the Mediterranean to the West of Lattakia, targeting Aleppo international airport."

The source mentioned that "the aggression caused damage to the airport’s runway that became out of service."

It is noteworthy that on August 31st, the Israeli occupation also targeted Aleppo International Airport with a number of missiles, causing material damage to the airport.

On September 2, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on Syria and stressed that such irresponsible actions by the Israeli side are totally unacceptable, adding that the attacks target important civilian infrastructure in Syria, particularly airports.

US reviews Israeli plans for strikes against Iranian targets in Syria

According to current and former US officials, "Israel" secretly coordinates with the US on many of the airstrikes it conducts in Syria.

Behind the curtains, current and former officials say that for several years, many Israeli missions have been reviewed in advance for approval by senior officials at US Central Command and the Pentagon.

This means that the formal coordination was previously unknown, and the secrecy surrounding it demonstrates how Washington has sought to support its Israeli ally.

The US review, according to the Wall Street Journal, mainly focuses on Israeli missions in eastern Syria that pass close to the US occupation's Al-Tanf base.
