Syria: Two explosions heard near US military base in Deir Ezzor
The missiles caused material damage to the base, placing the entire base and its soldiers on alert.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent to Syria reported that two explosions were heard at dawn today, Thursday, near a US military base - Green Village military base - in the Al-Omar oil field, east Deir Ezzor.
The correspondent indicated that the time of the explosions coincided with a global coalition aircraft flight over the region.
Sources told Al Mayadeen that the Popular Resistance factions targeted the US military base in the Al-Omar oil field with a number of local missiles, adding that the striking led to a huge fire in the base with not much knowledge of how much loss was sustained.
The coalition's reconnaissance planes and helicopters hovered in large numbers in the air after the incident.
The sources, furthermore, indicated that the coalition's artillery randomly targeted forests surrounding the Euphrates River - no casualties were reported.
They also pointed out that the targeting of the US occupation base was carried out as the coalition, for several days, have been flying an observation balloon for the purpose of gathering intelligence and securing Washington's illegal bases in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The US military base is named after ConocoPhillips, an American multinational corporation and Alaska's largest oil producer responsible for oil exploration and production. The company has its tentacles illegally stretched out in eastern Syria where much of the world's oil and gas are concentrated.
The US occupation forces have established bases in several areas of the East of Syria, especially in oil and gas fields. The natural resources are being stolen and smuggled abroad using large convoys of tankers, in coordination with the SDF.
In September 2021, a similar incident occurred after which the area witnessed a heavy flight of helicopters and warplanes of the US occupation forces.
January: Conoco targeted
Eight explosions were heard on January 8, in the vicinity of the Al-Omar oil field in Syria's Deir Ezzor countryside, Sputnik reported.
The oil field is being used by the US occupation as a military base, its largest in eastern Syria. Local sources reported that the eight explosions were heard in the towns and villages surrounding the oil field, which is the biggest in Syria.
Al-Omar oil field and the Conoco gas plant have both been targeted by rockets. No information has been provided on the occupation's possible losses.
Al Mayadeen's sources had also reported on January 5 that Al-Omar was targeted by rocket fire. The sources added that the missiles caused material damage to the base, placing the entire base and its soldiers on alert.
