According to Syrian media, the Israeli occupation has launched an airstrike on the Damascus area.

A Syrian military official told SANA that "Syria’s air defense systems are repelling Israel’s aggressive attacks."

Later on, the Syrian Defense Ministry announced that the Israeli attack on the Syrian capital governorate of Damascus resulted in injuries to two Syrian service members.

"Tonight, approximately at 22:05 local time [20:05 GMT], the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, striking positions in the governorate of Damascus. Our air defense systems reacted to enemy missiles and shot down several of them. As a result of the aggression, two soldiers were injured and some material damage was caused," the defense ministry said in a statement.

Last Sunday, Syrian official television reported that Syrian air defenses successfully intercepted Israeli targets in the skies over the capital, Damascus, and its surrounding areas.

A Syrian military source, as reported by Al Mayadeen,  confirmed that the Israeli occupation conducted an air aggression from the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting specific locations in the vicinity of Damascus.

The source added that the air defense forces successfully responded to the aggression's missiles, intercepting and shooting down some of them. Fortunately, the resulting losses were confined to material damages.

Earlier, four people were martyred in the Quneitra Governorate in southeast Syria following an Israeli aggression on the area, according to al-Watan newspaper. Our correspondent revealed that an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a vehicle near the city of al-Baat in the governate.

On Thursday, following the launching of several rockets toward occupied territories, the Israeli military shelled several areas in the countryside of Damascus and Qunaitra.

The events followed a previous rocket attack from Syria on Israeli military sites in the Syrian-occupied Golan Heights, according to Israeli media outlets.

It is worth noting that since October 7, the Israeli occupation has also escalated its attacks on Syria's international airports in Damascus and Aleppo. Israelis also launched attacks on several areas in southern Syria.
