Syrian Army repels ISIS attempt to attack position in Homs countryside
A Syrian source tells Al Mayadeen Net that ISIS militants attempted to assault an army position using two pickup trucks and three motorcycles.
The Syrian Arab Army repelled an attempt by ISIS to attack one of its positions in the al-Sukhna desert, originating from the al-Tanf direction, known as the 55-kilometer zone, a Syrian source told Al Mayadeen Net on Thursday.
The source stated that ISIS militants attempted to assault an army position using two pickup trucks and three motorcycles, noting that their movement was tracked from the al-Tanf area before being confronted.
Additionally, joint Syrian and Russian warplanes launched strikes on ISIS convoys and their deployment points in the desert regions of Palmyra, al-Sukhna, and their surrounding mountains in eastern Homs countryside, as well as in the al-Rasafa axis in southwestern rural Raqqa, central Syria.
In mid-October, a joint Russian-Syrian air force unit conducted airstrikes targeting positions held by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) militants in the Idlib and Latakia countrysides in Syria, according to Al Mayadeen’s correspondent.
The strikes focused on military training sites, storage facilities, and an underground tunnel near the town of Binin in Jabal al-Zawiya.
Two days earlier, similar joint airstrikes were carried out in the same regions. The strikes targeted HTS camps in the al-Bassel forests, west of Idlib city, as well as the hills surrounding the towns of Sheikh Bahr and Kfar Jales, according to our correspondent.
Additionally, the airstrikes targeted an underground vehicle depot near the cannery factory in Idlib city.
Our correspondent further mentioned that the Syrian-Russian strikes also hit areas controlled by the Turkistan Islamic Party in the hills of Kabani, in Latakia's countryside.
