Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad said after his meeting with his Iranian counterpart that Syria and Iran have stood together in the face of terrorism, revealing that the two countries are working on a road map to develop relations and economic cooperation.
Today, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad held talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Syria's capital, Damascus.
Al-Miqdad said in a joint press conference with Amir-Abdollahian that the resounding American defeat in Afghanistan will also mean its defeat in Syria, and in all parts of the world, deeming this defeat a hard lesson for America's agents and tools.
The Syrian Foreign Minister addressed his country's relationship with Iran and stated that Syria and Iran have stood together in the face of terrorism and the war on Syria, revealing that the two countries are working on a road map for developing their relations and economic cooperation.
He also expressed his confidence in the depth of the Syrian-Iranian relation and its continuation during Ebrahim Raisi's presidency of Iran, noting that the ties that unite Damascus with Tehran will develop in the upcoming months.
In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian mentioned that the two countries have an important role in setting new regional arrangements in economics, politics, and security.
Amir-Abdollahian expressed his belief that the priority now for all sides should be the formation of a unified government in Afghanistan, pointing out that the presence of foreign powers in the region will not help establish security and stability in it.
Upon his arrival at the airport, the Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed that Iran and Syria will take great steps to combat economic terrorism.
It is noteworthy that Amir-Abdollahian reached Damascus on Sunday coming from Baghdad as part of his regional tour.
The minister will hold talks with senior Syrian officials and brief them on the results of the Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership, which was held yesterday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
