Tehran University students rally in solidarity with US Gaza protests
Protesters were heard chanting "death to America," "death to Israel," and "death to England," and condemned the violent crackdown on American students as they marched down the streets of Tehran.
Students and staffers of Tehran University staged a rally on Saturday in a show of solidarity with students on US campuses who have been protesting US sponsorship of the Gaza genocide.
Protesters were heard chanting "death to America," "death to Israel," and "death to England," and condemned the violent crackdown on American students as they marched down the streets of Tehran.
The rally was a display of "support for the awakening conscience of the American and European academic community in denouncing violence against and killing of the oppressed Palestinian people by the fake Israeli regime and America's support for the child-killing regime," reported IRNA.

This comes as student protests and movements are increasingly gaining momentum in the US, where hundreds of arrests were made as police tried to thwart their efforts to push for an end to US sponsorship of the Gaza genocide.
Not only were students arrested and severely beaten up by law enforcers, but the government also mobilized to introduce legislation that would ultimately punish those participating, under the pretext that such forms of resistance are "antisemitic".

On Friday, Iran's permanent mission to the UN published a statement condemning the crackdown on pro-Palestine protests across US universities.
"We strongly condemn the brutal and violent crackdown on widespread peaceful pro-Palestinian protests at universities in the United States. The US Police brutality and excessive use of force during peaceful assemblies, and targeting students advocating for an end to genocidal war in Gaza is a matter of serious concern," the mission said on X on April 26.
"Demonstrators are precisely calling for ending the US complicity in ongoing Genocide in Gaza in their name. Firing and beating peaceful protesters does not silence them, who are the frontline human rights defenders, it only reaffirms the urgency of the struggle for justice for Palestine," it added.
