A permanent ceasefire is being urged by Iran to end "Israel's" crimes in Gaza, as the end of the four-day truce nears and Palestinian Resistance Hamas voices its willingness to extend and free more captives.
Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson, Nasser Kanaani, said: "As the Islamic Republic of Iran, we want and expect... that the crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people will be stopped completely".
Kanaani expressed during his weekly press conference that Iran is "following" the truce extension "with the regional party active in this field, the state of Qatar".
This follows Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian's visit to Doha on Thursday.
"One of the main goals of the ongoing negotiations and efforts is to ensure that the existing temporary ceasefire takes a stable form and that the cruel aggression of the Zionist regime (Israel) against Gaza is not repeated," Kanaani added.

After the ground invasion of Gaza, "it seems that the Zionist regime after not being able to achieve its objectives" and "wants to obtain a tangible victory", the diplomat noted as he suggested that "Israel" will not stop its offense on Gaza.
'Growing desperate'
Iranian news agency Mehr cited Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as saying today that the people of Gaza are the decision-makers to determine the future of the Strip, through the Hamas administration, which represents the legitimate government in Gaza, as it assumed authority through a legitimate process and with the votes of Gazans.
"America has no right to interfere or make any decisions for the people of Gaza, and any action they take in this regard is doomed to failure," Raisi further underlined.
Elsewhere, the Iranian President considered that the United States is murdering the Palestinian people in Gaza, describing any US interference in the future of the Gaza Strip as a continuation of its crimes.
This comes after 39 imprisoned Palestinian children were freed from Israeli occupation prisons under the truce agreement, the Israeli Prison Service said.
It was later confirmed that the bus carrying the 39 liberated Palestinian children arrived in Ramallah coming from the "Ofer" prison, where festivities were held to celebrate their return.
"Israel did not achieve any of its goals of occupying Gaza and eliminating the Resistance," he said, adding, "What the Zionist regime has done shows that it has grown desperate in the face of the Palestinian resistance."
Raisi further described Operation Al-Aqsa Flood as the Palestinian people's "legitimate defense of their right," prompted by "[Israel's] incessant oppression."
