Terrorist attack leaves 2 police officers dead in Iran
Armed individuals stormed the police station in the early hours of Saturday using grenades.
A statement from the provincial branch of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Saturday read that two police officers died as a result of a terrorist attack on the police station in the city of Zahedan in the capital of Sistan-Baluchestan province in southeast Iran, IRNA reports.
Earlier in the day, the prosecutor of Sistan-Baluchestan Mehdi Shamsabadi had announced that only one police officer died in the attack.
All four members of the terrorist team that attacked the police station were killed, the statement added.

According to a security official who witnessed the events, the incident was not an attempt to carry out a suicide attack.
According to Ali Reza Marhamati, the province’s deputy governor for security affairs, the attack reportedly began at 07:15 local time (03:45 GMT).
He added that security forces managed to rapidly gain control of the situation by their timely presence at the scene.
All assailants had been neutralized before entering the police station, he added.
