Terrorist that carried out attack in southern Iran sentenced to death
Abbas Kurkuri, the primary suspect in the Izeh terrorist attack, has been sentenced to death according to the Iranian court.
Abbas Kurkuri, the primary suspect of the deadly November shooting in the Iranian province of Khuzestan has been sentenced to death following a court ruling, according to an Iranian media report published on Friday.
After having determined that it was indeed Kurkuri's firearm that was used to murder a nine-year-old boy among other victims in the city of Izeh, the defendant was sentenced to capital punishment.
In Izeh, on November 16, 2022, two motorcycles opened fire on Iranian police officers in the city, which led to the death of several people, including nine-year-old Kian Pirfalak and a 45-year-old woman, and the injury of others.
Iran's Foreign Ministry, at the time, affirmed that military action against separatist groups is legitimate retaliation for their violations against Iran's security and borders, and was done to protect national security.
In the same context, the commander of the IRGC, Major General Hossein Salami, stated prior to the funeral of the victims of the terror attack that the country has faced a great conspiracy by enemies that are angered by the Iranian nation who are collaborating with some individuals that are being deceived.
