The Iraqi Electoral Commission Announces Completing Manual Counting of 3100 Electoral Stations
The votes of 3,100 electoral stations have been manually counted, to be added to the announced results.
The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) of Iraq announced on Tuesday that the votes of 3,100 electoral stations would be tallied manually and added to the announced results.
Earlier on Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi visited the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command where he was briefed on the progress of the security measures taken to protect the electoral commission's warehouses and ballot boxes.
Al-Kadhimi pointed to the success of the security plan and taking all required precautions during the electoral process, which took place for the first time without imposing a curfew.
Earlier, the Coordination Framework, which includes a number of electoral blocs, most notably the Law bloc, al-Fatah bloc, and the National Contract bloc, announced in a statement that it will challenge the results of the parliamentary elections.
On Monday, the spokeswoman for the Iraqi Electoral Commission, Jumana Al-Ghalay, announced to Al Mayadeen the release of the partial results of the parliamentary elections in 10 provinces.
The Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq had reported that the initial participation rate in the general polls amounted to 41%.
