Top official: Hodeidah Port closed except for rare humanitarian ops
Head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation Mohammad Abdul Salam confirmed that the Saudi coalition’s threat to target civilian facilities is not new.
Head of the Sanaa negotiating delegation Mohammad Abdul Salam tweeted that "Yemen's main port of Hodeidah has been closed since it was bombed by Saudi coalition aircraft in late 2015," with the exception of rare humanitarian operations.
"The coalition’s threat to target civilian facilities is not new. A few days ago, Sanaa Airport and other civilian facilities were bombed on ridiculous pretexts," he added.
In the same context, Abdul Salam confirmed on Wednesday that Yemen has the right to establish the breadth of its territorial sea, as every country.
"Just as every country is concerned with defending its territorial waters, Yemen too is definitely concerned with exercising the full right of defending its security and the security of its territorial waters."
In a tweet, the top Yemeni figure commented on the recently seized Emirati military cargo ship off the coast of Hodeidah by saying that the incident had nothing to do with any media or political bidding.
"It’s a battle of dignity and sovereignty, which our people will continue to fight till the end."
Earlier, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced seizing an "Emirati military cargo ship carrying military equipment that entered Yemeni waters without any license and was engaged in hostile acts."
It is worth mentioning that Yemen has become the site of grievous civilian suffering amid an intractable Saudi aggression. More than one million people have been displaced as a result of the war on Yemen, which has resulted in cholera epidemics, medical shortages, and hunger concerns. Yemen's humanitarian catastrophe has been dubbed "the worst in the world" by the United Nations.
