US President Donald Trump announced Sunday evening on his Truth Social account that “the Israelis have accepted my terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well.”
In his post, Trump wrote: “Everyone wants the hostages home. Everyone wants this war to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”
According to Israeli Channel 12, Trump conveyed a new proposal through his envoy Steve Witkoff, bypassing the usual mediators Qatar and Egypt. The reported plan includes the release of all Israeli captives, both living and deceased, on the first day of the deal in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners serving long sentences.
The proposal also envisions halting the Israeli military operation in Gaza City and opening a negotiation track under Trump’s direct supervision to work toward a permanent end to the war.
Trump emphasized that Hamas must “trust the American president” in order for the agreement to succeed, framing his message as a final warning to the Palestinian movement.
However, no formal commitment to end the war was announced, and critics noted that Trump had previously deceived the resistance, pointing to the case of Alexander Eidan, the US-Israeli settler-soldier once handed over to him.
Hamas reiterates commitment to ceasefire deal
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance, Hamas, reaffirmed Saturday its adherence and commitment to its most recent agreement to the latest ceasefire proposal for Gaza, along with the Palestinian Resistance factions.
A statement by the movement noted that it remains open to ideas, suggestions, and recommendations that would guarantee a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, the full withdrawal of occupation forces from Gaza, the uninterrupted and unconditional flow of humanitarian aid, and a just prisoner exchange through serious negotiations, held through mediators.
Hamas continues to show utmost flexibility in negotiations as "Israel" obstructs all agreements and talks to wreak more havoc in Gaza. A few days ago, the Palestinian Resistance announced that it is still awaiting the Israeli regime's response to the proposal presented by mediators on August 18.
