Turkish drone targets sponge factory west of al-Hasakah
A Turkish drone targets a sponge factory less than 500 meters away from a US occupation base in west of the city of al-Hasakah.
Al Mayadeen correspondent in Syria reported Thursday that a Turkish drone targeted a sponge factory in the village of Shamouka, west of the city of al-Hasakah, citing information that casualties were recorded.
Our correspondent reported that the bombed site is less than 500 meters away from the Life Stone Resort base of the US-led "International Coalition" occupation forces, while press information said the bombing targeted the highway linking al-Hasakah and the town of Tal Tamr.
This comes amid a wave of escalation between the Turkish occupation army and the so-called "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) that has resulted in the deaths of civilians and members of the Syrian army.
A couple of days ago, three soldiers were killed and six others were injured in an attack on several locations in the Aleppo countryside by the Turkish occupation.
A military source told Al Mayadeen that the attack is part of the Turkish regime's continuous support for armed terrorist groups.
"The Syrian armed forces responded to that aggression and targeted its sites, destroyed some of them, and inflicted human and material losses on the aggressors," the source said.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish-backed "National Army" has repeatedly targeted villages and towns in the Tal Tamr and Abu Rasin districts, northwest of al-Hasakah, with artillery and missile shelling.
Al Mayadeen sources said the bombing led to the death of one person and the injury of five others, in addition to significant material damage, pointing out that the bombing, which hit about 10 villages, caused a wave of displacement from the targeted area.
In the same context, the Syrian Defense Minister, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, had stressed "the necessity of ending the American and Turkish occupation of Syrian territories in order to extend the State’s control over them and to be able to invest in their resources that are subject to looting and theft."
Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad warned that "Turkey working on establishing safe zones on Syrian soil will put it in a position of conflict with Damascus."
He stressed that Damascus "opposes any Turkish involvement in Syria's territories to establish safe zones, and we are against the policy of Turkifying Syria and [Ankara's] support of terrorist organizations."
