Two Kurds arrested after attack on Turkish consulate: France
The two suspects were not on the wanted list and admitted to being Kurds, reports say.
BFMTV reported on Saturday, citing a police source, that two men of Kurdish origin were arrested in Marseille, France, after throwing Molotov cocktails at the Turkish Consulate General's premises.
The two suspects, according to the source, were not on the wanted list.
According to the report, the detainees were apprehended, but two other suspects remain at large.
The incident is being investigated by law enforcement.
Earlier in the day, over 1,500 people gathered in Paris for a peaceful march to remember three Kurds killed in December and three activists killed in January 2013.
Representatives of the Kurdish community held images of the deceased and chanted slogans demanding an impartial investigation into the two occurrences, which they regard as “acts of terrorism by Turkey."
The most recent shooting attack occurred on December 23 outside a Kurdish cultural center in Paris, killing three Kurds. The 69-year-old French shooter was apprehended and admitted to attacking the Kurdish community out of racial hatred. Hundreds of Kurds in Paris took to the streets in response to the event. The gathering devolved into fights, resulting in multiple injuries.
