The Palestinian Health Ministry announced the martyrdom of two young men, Izz al-Din Bassem Hamamra, 24 years old, and Amjad Adnan Khaliliya, 23 years old, during a confrontation with the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) following their aggression on the town of Jaba, south of Jenin.

Palestinian media added that the occupation forces opened fire on a vehicle at the Jaba' junction, killing the two young men who were inside it.

Furthermore, Yazan Samer al-Jabari, 19 years old, from al-Yamoun, west of Jenin, succumbed to his injuries, raising the death toll of Palestinians martyred in 2023 to 12, including 3 children. A few days ago, al-Jabari was wounded during confrontations as the IOF raided Jenin.

The "Tarsala" confrontations

According to reports by Palestinian media the IOF stormed the evacuated "Tarsala settlement" and set up another illegal military checkpoint at the junction of the town of Jaba.

As a result, confrontations erupted as Palestinians refused to accept further settler-colonialist conduct. The IOF fired live bullets, sonic grenades, and tear gas, toward the protestors at the "Tarsala" occupation checkpoint, wounding one Palestinian.

The site of the evacuated "Tarsala settlement" is located on a Palestinian hill south of Jenin, on the main road connecting the Jenin and Nablus governorates; close to the town of Jaba. Occupation authorities evacuated it in 2005, as part of the unilateral evacuation plan implemented by Ariel Sharon's government at the time.

Condemned conduct

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine released a statement condemning the latest Israeli aggression, saying that "the open aggression against the Palestinian people would not have reached this dangerous level had it not been for the Arab and international impotence and the full support and protection provided by the American administration to the Zionist occupation."

The Popular Front added, "The Palestinian people will take the initiative as usual and confront this military arsenal with all its available strength and capabilities, no matter how great the sacrifices."
