UK to provide 3 contracts worth $114m to Kiev, including air defense
A 56 million pound counter-uncrewed aerial systems contract with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg and counter-drone equipment are to be provided as part of the packages meant for Ukraine's counteroffensive.
The UK government confirmed on Friday that three contracts including air defense equipment delivery to Ukraine have been signed, estimated to be worth 90 million pounds (almost $114.5 million) and to be provided on behalf of the International Fund for Ukraine.
A 56 million pound counter-uncrewed aerial systems contract with Norwegian defense company Kongsberg and counter-drone equipment are to be provided as part of the packages meant for Ukraine's counteroffensive.
In a statement, the government said: "Three contracts to deliver air defense equipment to Ukraine worth more than £90m have been signed by the Ministry of Defence on behalf of the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU)".
The delivery agreements also involve two other contracts to enhance Ukraine's air defense capabilities.

"The contract with Kongsberg will purchase vehicle-mounted counter-drone systems to detect, track, destroy or disrupt UAS," the statement added, noting that the supply entails CORTEX Typhon air defense systems intended for physical destruction or disrupting drones.
High confidence
This trio package comes after a joint statement published by the US, Denmark, the Netherlands, and the UK read that the four countries intended to send hundreds of short- and medium-range air defense missiles along with associated weapons systems to Ukraine.
"The initiative will deliver hundreds of short and medium-range air defense missiles and associated systems required to protect Ukraine’s critical national infrastructure and further ensure the success of counter-offensive operations in coming months," the statement published by the UK Defense Ministry said. "Delivery of the equipment has already begun and should be complete within several weeks."
Last month, the UK Defense Ministry announced that 18,000 Ukrainian recruits have already received training as part of Operation Interflex, a multinational effort led by the UK to support and train Ukrainian forces in response to Russia's military operation in Ukraine.
The UK has been displaying quite a high sense of confidence in its military power, as the country's military equipment maker BAE Systems announced its agreement to purchase US company Ball Aerospace from the Ball Corporation for about $5.55 billion, which supplies spacecraft, mission payloads, optical systems, and antenna systems, and its clients include the US Department of Defense and civilian space agencies.
