Ukrainian forces shelling kills four civilians in Zaporozhye
Ukraine shells the Zaporozhye region, killing and wounding several civilians.
The Ukrainian armed forces shelled the city of Polohy, Zaporozhye on Saturday, killing four civilians and seriously wounding five others, said Zaporozhye regional administration main council member Vladimir Rogov.
"The consequences of the shelling of Polohy by terrorists: several rockets hit a grocery store and the administration building. At the moment, we have information on four civilians killed and five more who were seriously injured," Rogov said on Telegram on Saturday.
Ukraine's attacks have escalated in Zaparozhye, alongside the neighboring regions of Kherson, Donetsk People's Republic, and Lugansk People's Republic, which have seen an uptick in violence from Ukraine since their accession into Russia in September.
According to the DPR's mission to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine's war crimes (JCCC), from February 24 through December 20, 2022, strikes conducted by Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) have killed 4,392 civilians, including 132 children, and wounded 3,926 people.
The statement further revealed that the shelling of the Ukrainian troops injured 3,926 people, including 247 children. The strikes destroyed 9,224 residential buildings, 2,200 civilian infrastructure facilities, and 1,114 vehicles.
Meanwhile, Zaparozhye has been the subject of various missile strikes that targeted its vital Zaparozhye nuclear power plant, the biggest in Europe, which threatened a nuclear catastrophe on the continent.
The shelling prompted an intervention from the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, and that still did not curb Kiev's aggression against the region.
