Ukrainian forces fire mortars into Donbas
The Ukrainian security forces opened fire on the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), using mortars prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
Ukrainian forces fired prohibited mortars on the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) on Thursday morning. The forces opened fire four times and again on another area according to the representative office in the Joint Center of Control and Coordination (JCCC).
According to Al Mayadeen's correspondent, the LPR police spoke of severe tension in the line of contact with the Ukrainian forces, citing a response to a bombing by Ukrainian forces in the south of the province.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent to Ukraine confirmed that Kiev reported eight heavy weaponry attacks by Donbas forces.
An LPR officer told reporters that Ukraine's armed forces flagrantly violated the ceasefire using weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements. The officer added that the forces fired on Donetsk earlier.
On Tuesday, the Russian State Duma voted in favor of a draft resolution recognizing the Lugansk and Donetsk republics and the independence of Donbas.
Before the vote, Kiev announced that it would consider Moscow's recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics as Russia's de facto and legal withdrawal from the Minsk Agreements with all the consequences that it entails.
Luhansk: Ukraine preparing 'staged terrorist attack' in Donbas
A military spokesperson of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Ivan Filiponenko, revealed last week that the Ukrainian special services are preparing a "staged terrorist attack" with civilian casualties at one of the facilities in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, or Luhansk regions.
"The undercover intelligence of the People's Militia of the LPR received data about the preparation of a staged high-profile terrorist act with numerous casualties among the civilian population at one of the industrial or social facilities in Kharkov, Luhansk or Donetsk regions by the Ukrainian special services," Filiponenko told reporters.
Last month, (LPR) Head, Leonid Pasechnik, revealed that mercenaries are arriving in southeastern Ukraine disguised as military instructors.
