The UN's special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories has condemned "Israel's" ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip as "the collective shame of the century," highlighting the international community's inability to defend Palestinian rights.

The Israeli occupation continues its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northern regions, which have witnessed Israeli massacres since the war began a year ago.

The occupation has renewed its brutal aggression in northern Gaza as part of a systematic plan to forcibly displace its residents and destroy all aspects of life and infrastructure, resulting in dozens of martyrs in recent days.

Francesca Albanese made the statements in an X post on Sunday, after more than a year of Israeli bombardment that has destroyed Gaza, murdered tens of thousands of innocent people, and displaced nearly the entire population, often several times.

"In Gaza, the collective shame of the century continues unabated and unstopped, in defiance of every norm of international law and morale," she wrote.

Albanese expressed that "the Palestinians, exhausted by relentless attacks on their bodies and souls are abandoned to their tormentors."

The special rapporteur underscored the “summary executions, mass forced displacements, and other egregious abuses” the IOF are subjecting the Palestinians to, calling them a "disgraceful testament to our global failure to protect basic human rights.”

Albanese further emphasized that the UN, which was once considered a "beacon of hope and force for peace, are crumbling under the weight of this shame - and the pressure of the inaction or complicity of its most powerful member states."

The Special Rapporteur's comments come as Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that Israeli occupation forces set fire to the Indonesian Hospital.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the direct targeting of the hospital, reiterating its call to all relevant UN and international institutions and bodies to protect healthcare facilities and workers from the atrocities and crimes of the occupation, particularly in the northern part of the besieged Gaza Strip, where genocide has been ongoing for 17 consecutive days.

Extermination ongoing in Gaza: 'Israel' commits massacre in Beit Lahia

On Saturday evening, the Israeli occupation committed a horrific massacre by bombing several houses near al-Qassam Mosque in the Beit Lahia area in the northern Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of 73 Palestinians, according to a preliminary toll announced by the Government Media Office in Gaza.

In addition to the high death toll of the massacre, dozens of people have been injured or remain missing, most of them women and children, as stated by the media office. This new massacre coincides with the Israeli occupation’s deliberate destruction of the healthcare system in the northern region of the sector, an area that remains home to around 400,000 residents.

The Government Media Office further reported that the Israeli occupation forces had threatened hospitals in the province, demanding that medical staff evacuate immediately. Furthermore, the occupation has blocked fuel deliveries to these hospitals and cut off communication and internet access in the area, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Additionally, the media office held the occupation, along with the US administration, the UK, Germany, France, and other countries complicit in the ongoing genocide, fully responsible for the continuation of this crime—specifically, the ethnic cleansing and extermination in Jabalia Camp and the Beit Lahia project, as well as the continued massacres of civilians in northern Gaza.

This massacre is part of "Israel’s" ongoing crimes in Gaza, which include imposing siege, starvation, and total isolation on the northern province amid heavy aerial and artillery bombardments.

As the Israeli occupation’s siege on the north continues for the 15th consecutive day, Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson, Mahmoud Basal, stated that Jabalia Camp is facing extremely dire conditions due to the occupation's prevention of humanitarian aid. He noted that over 400 people, including children, women, and the elderly, have been killed, while it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Civil Defense to reach the bombing sites.
