UNRWA says its facilities were bombed 332 times by Israeli forces
UNRWA published a report documenting 332 documented incidents of its facilities in the Gaza Strip being bombed and vandalized by the Israeli occupation forces.
In a special report on Monday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) documented several incidents in which its facilities were subjected to the ongoing Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
The report outlined that the agency's buildings have been subjected to bombing and vandalism on up to 332 occasions, resulting in harm to people within them since the onset of the aggression. Additionally, it noted that several incidents were reported between February 20th and 23rd of this year.
UNRWA documented these incidents based on footage captured by the Israeli occupation forces. It noted that occupation forces reportedly entered a school in the Bani Suhaila area, located in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip. Inside the school premises, the occupation forces conducted excavation operations within the vicinity, alleging they had discovered a tunnel beneath the facility.
The agency's report indicated that the Israeli occupation forces also carried out a controlled demolition near the school, pointing out that the damage resulting from that explosion had not yet been assessed. It added that the occupation forces opened fire on a group of people at the main gate of a school in the al-Amal neighborhood, west of Khan Younis, killing at least two people.
According to the footage, a school located in Gaza City was directly struck by artillery fire, sustaining damage from several shells. While there were no reports of casualties, numerous displaced individuals who had sought shelter within the school premises decided to vacate following the incident.
A container inside a school in the Nuseirat camp in the central region of the Gaza Strip was directly hit, causing the martyrdom of one and the injury of another.
Furthermore, a distribution center in Rafah (where other UNRWA offices are also located) was damaged and fragments were found inside the maintenance office due to an Israeli raid on a house adjacent to the aforementioned center, according to the UNRWA report.
The organization had previously stated that the ongoing confrontations, particularly in the northern Gaza Strip, Deir al-Balah, and Khan Younis, exacerbate the already high rates of malnutrition, posing a significant danger to the affected population.
In the same context, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced yesterday, on Sunday, that the war on Gaza has inflicted "unprecedented destruction."
Speaking to Anadolu, WHO spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic said that the war has caused unparalleled levels of destruction, with 70 to 80% of civilian infrastructure, including houses, hospitals, schools, and water and sewage facilities, destroyed or seriously damaged.
