US, European troika call for 'de-escalation' in Syria
As terror organizations carry on their onslaught on Syrian cities and towns, the US and its European allies call for a "political solution."
The United States, France, Germany, and Britain released a statement calling for "de-escalation" in Syria, urging the protection of civilians and infrastructure, on Sunday.
"The current escalation only underscores the urgent need for a Syrian-led political solution to the conflict, in line with UNSCR 2254," read a statement issued by the US State Department, referencing the 2015 UN resolution that endorsed a peace process in Syria.
However, the statement fails to take note of the reality of the ongoing terror offensive on Syrian cities and towns, led by the US-designated terror organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Moreover, the statement also equates between the Syrian government and terrorist organizations, referring to them as "parties."
It is worth noting that the United States maintains its occupation forces in eastern Syria, which it has utilized to back insurgency and loot Syrian natural resources.
Earlier Washington blamed Syria's "reliance" on its allies Iran and Russia, which continue to support the country's fight against terror, for the unfolding situation, completely sidelining its role in exacerbating both the humanitarian situation and the deterioration of infrastructure in Syria.

Syria, allies ready to combat terrorism, secure region
Meanwhile, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad underscored his country’s unwavering determination to combat terrorist organizations with full force across all Syrian territories, during his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Al-Assad emphasized that combating terrorism, dismantling its infrastructure, and cutting off its resources serve not only Syria but also the stability of the entire region.
He described Araghchi’s visit as significant, especially in light of the current critical circumstances, highlighting it as a message of Iranian support for Syria and other members of the Axis of Resistance against the Israeli occupation. "It is a visit of great meaning and appreciation," Assad said.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Tehran’s readiness to provide comprehensive support to the Syrian government, military, and people in their fight against terrorism.
"The recent actions of terrorist groups are part of a conspiracy by enemies to destabilize the region," Araghchi said, linking these activities to the US and the Israeli regime.
Expressing confidence in Syria’s resilience, Araghchi stated, "Just as Syria triumphed over terrorism in the past, it will succeed again in defeating terrorist groups and their backers."
