US accusations of leaving unexploded ordnance "absurd": Russian Embassy
The Russian Embassy in the United States dismissed US Under Secretary of State Bonnie Jenkins' remarks regarding the threat posed by unexploded munitions purportedly left by Russia in Ukraine.
The Russian Embassy in the United States dismissed US Under Secretary of State Bonnie Jenkins' claims regarding unexploded munitions purportedly left by the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine, labeling them as absurd.
On its Telegram channel, the embassy stated that "We paid attention to statements by US Under Secretary of State B. Jenkins regarding the threat posed by Russian unexploded ordnance allegedly left by the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine."
"Such accusations are absurd against the backdrop of continuous deliveries of lethal weapons to the Kiev regime from the United States. Among them are MANPADS and ATGMs, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the nationalistic battalions leave in their positions in whole batches during the retreat," the statement continued.
On Monday, Ukraine and the US discussed additional US military support for Ukraine.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin addressed US military support for Ukraine with Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznik over the phone, according to Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby.
Yesterday, the Pentagon announced that the US is giving out a package of arms worth some $300 million to Ukraine, detailing that the package would include military equipment ranging from laser-guided rocket systems to armored Humvees and drones.
In regards to the recent situation in Bucha and other regions in Ukraine, Austin "reiterared the US commitment to use every tool available to document and share information."
