US bases in northeastern Syria come under attack
It was reported that several US bases came under attack in northeastern Syria amid escalating operations against the occupying forces.
Sources reported to Al Mayadeen on Tuesday that the vicinity of a US military base in al-Shaddadi, southern al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria, came under attack. The strike coincided with US forces conducting military training exercises at the al-Jebsa housing area in the town’s southern region.
In a separate development, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus reported that a Syrian Army checkpoint blocked a convoy of four US military vehicles from entering the village of Tal al-Dhahab in the Qamishli countryside.
Meanwhile, a significant explosion shook the US base at the al-Omar oil field in eastern Deir Ezzor, as a rocket barrage targeted the facility, according to a Sputnik correspondent. The correspondent added that US forces attempted to intercept the rockets with ground defenses; however, plumes of smoke rose from the base, visible from a considerable distance.
This comes after American aircraft struck two areas in the eastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor, early on Wednesday, Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported.
Our correspondent said that the strikes targeted positions of the Syrian Arab Army's paramilitary, in the al-Jamiyat area of al-Bukamal, near the border with Iraq.
According to an initial toll, three people were martyred and another five were injured in the aggression.
