US coalition drone hits truck in Syria, violates protocols
The Russian official said that the US-led coalition violated deconfliction protocols eight times in the past 24 hours.
Yurii Popov, the deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, reported on Saturday that a multipurpose MQ-1C drone from the US-led coalition, deployed from Iraqi territory, struck a truck in Syria, resulting in fatalities and injuries among Syrian civilians.
"At about 10:30 p.m. [19:30 GMT] on June 21, an MQ-1C multipurpose drone of the so-called 'international anti-terrorist coalition,' from Iraqi airspace, without violating Syrian airspace, struck a truck moving in the area of the city of Abu Kamal. Syrian citizens have been killed and injured as a result of the attack," Popov said.
The official added that the US-led coalition violated deconfliction protocols eight times in the past 24 hours.
Popov reported a total of 11 violations by two F-15 fighter jets, two Typhoon fighter jets, three pairs of A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft, and an MQ-9 Reaper drone of the US-led coalition in the Al-Tanf area during the day.
This comes after Islamic Resistance in Iraq - the Sayyed Al-Shuhada Brigades - announced earlier in the day the martyrdom of one of its fighters, who was killed in an American strike on the Iraqi-Syrian border.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent had reported the aggression that targeted the tribal area west of al-Bukamal, on the border with Syria, which killed a martyr.
Earlier on Friday, informed sources confirmed to Al Mayadeen that a drone attack targeted a military site in the tribal area, located 7 km west of the city of Al-Bukamal, east of Deir Ezzor.
The sources added that the targeting "caused a large explosion in the area, without information about the extent of the losses."

Recent days have witnessed increased escalations in the occupied territories of Syria, particularly in light of heightened tensions that resulted from the war on Gaza.
Earlier this week, a spokesperson for the Israeli occupation army, Daniel Hagari, confirmed on Monday the crash of a Sky Rider drone in the Quneitra area inside Syrian territories.
The Israeli army statement did not disclose the reason for the drone's crash or whether its wreckage had been retrieved but mentioned that an investigation into the incident has been opened and there is no fear of information leaks as a result.
Meanwhile, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Syria reported that efforts are underway to dismantle the Israeli drone that crashed in Quneitra province.
