US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan met with Secretary of the Armenian Security Council Armen Grigoryan on Thursday.
Sullivan communicated the US's commitment to maintaining "peace, security, and prosperity," in Armenia and the South Caucasus region, expressing concern over the ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
On December 10, the Armenian defense ministry said eight Armenian soldiers had sustained injuries amid the confrontations, adding that six of them are in critical condition.
Sullivan emphasized that movements near un-demarcated borders are "irresponsible and provocative," adding that the US is committed to "supporting confidence-building measures and regional reconciliation" as a Minsk Group Co-Chair.
The National Security Adviser also praised Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's participation in the Summit for Democracy.
Earlier, Turkey and Armenia decided to establish a special envoy to discuss the instating of diplomatic and economic ties.
