US hinders extension of ceasefire in Yemen: Local Yemeni media
Yemeni sources say that the United States has prevented the finalization of the ceasefire deal between Sanaa and Riyadh recently.
The United States is hindering efforts to extend the ceasefire between Riyadh and Sanaa, local Yemeni media said.
The US has asked the government of the UAE to use its mercenaries and allied elements in the Transitional Council and Tareq Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, the nephew of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, to create again tension and conflict in Yemen, according to the local Yemeni website.
Meanwhile, Sanaa officials said that the US envoy has blocked the extension of the ceasefire deal, which was about to be finalized. Tim Lenderking, the US Special Envoy for Yemen also went to Saudi Arabia and the UAE and met with the ambassadors of the five permanent members of the Security Council in Riyadh.
The United States' actions show that it is attempting to keep the developments in Yemen under its control and that Saudi Arabia cannot take any initiative towards putting an end to the war, Yemeni sources said.
Moreover, a week ago, member of the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement's Political Bureau, Ali al-Qahoum told Al Mayadeen that US military delegations arrived in Yemen and that the US is preparing alongside the UK for a round of escalation.
The political bureau of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement also issued a statement on Wednesday to strongly condemn the visit of Steven Fagin, the US ambassador to Yemen, to the province of Hadhramout in the east of Yemen.
Earlier in November, the Sanaa government accused the US of obstructing peace in Yemen and held it responsible for the war and the siege against it for more than 7 years.
